William Roseberry, Sr. Obituary

Mr. William “Bill” Joseph Roseberry Sr, 95, of Taylorville, IL went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.  He was born November 19, 1926 in Springfield, IL to William T. and Ursula Roseberry.

Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during WW II.  Upon his return he married Shirley Ward on June 25, 1937.  She proceeded him in death on January 1, 1985. 

Bill married Jennie M. Brandis on June 12, 1987.  They enjoyed spending their winters in Florida soaking up the sun, finding shells and fishing.

Most who knew him would say he was a jack of all trades and had many hobbies.  He learned auto mechanics at a young age working at his dad’s shop.  He also worked for Peabody Coal Mine and retired from Firestone with 25 years of service. He loved spending time with all his grandchildren teaching them about fishing and rocks.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jennie Roseberry, children Betty (Bruce) Ryan, William (Pam) Roseberry II and Gregg (Jackie) Roseberry; grandchildren Jeb Ryan, Jacob Ryan, Jacelyn Prince, Tiffany (Barrett) Kalka, William (Lacey) Roseberry III, Bailey (Kari) Roseberry; great-grandchildren Zachary Kalka, Colton Kalka, Ryan Prince, Brady Prince; siblings John Roseberry, Paul (Jackie) Roseberry, Judy Roseberry.  He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Gail Ann Roseberry; grandson Jeb Ryan; siblings George Roseberry, Mary Cearlock, Norma Ryan.

Private services will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  Memorial donations may be made to the Christian County Senior Citizens.
