Mr. Wayne Clark Henley, 70, of Tovey, IL passed away at 12:30 P.M. Monday, November 10, 2014 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.
He was born in Taylorville, IL April 9, 1944 the son of Archie C. and Lorena C. (Clark) Henley. Wayne married Aida Louise Llorca July 14, 1968 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL.
Mr. Henley graduated from South Fork Community High School, Kincaid. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam War. He retired from Peabody Mine Number #10 near Pawnee after 33 years. Wayne later worked after retirement at Pawnee Lumber Company. Mr. Henley drove a tank in the first Armed Forces Day Parade that Korea allowed the U.S. to participate in. He was a member of U.M.W.A. Local 9819, Kincaid Knights of Columbus council 4446 Kincaid, American Legion Post #905 Kincaid and was a life time member of V.F.W. Post #4495 Taylorville. Wayne served on the Tovey School Board and the Tovey Village Board. He liked traveling out west and to Gulf Shores, AL and loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife Aida Louise Henley of Tovey, IL a son Jeff (wife Stephanie) Henley of Kincaid, IL a daughter Jami (Husband Eric) Jamieson of Springfield, IL 4 grandchildren Curtis Henley, Connor Henley, Zelia Jamieson and Rowan Jamieson, a sister Fern (husband Bob) Chance of Kincaid, IL along with several neices and nephews.
Mr. Henley was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Harold and Donald.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 in Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL. Rev. Chad Foster officiated. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery, rural Edinburg, IL with Military Graveside Rites by the V.F.W. Taylorville. Visitation for Mr. Henley was held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday November 13 at Masterson Funeral Home. Memorials in memory of Mr. Henley may be made to the American Legion post #905 - PO Box 371, Kincaid, IL. 62540
