Wanda Virginia (Torricelli) Melvin

Mrs. Wanda Virginia (Torricelli) Melvin, 94, of Taylorville, IL passed from this life at 10:55 P.M. Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Taylorville Care Center.

She was born in Tovey, IL September 11, 1927 the daughter of Joseph and Virginia (Vignocchi) Torricelli.  Wanda married Kenneth Vernon Melvin November 8, 1946 in Kentucky.  Mr. Melvin preceded her in death on March 28, 2022.

Wanda was a member of the Christian County Home Extension.  She enjoyed cooking, especially Italian food, gardening, music, dancing, nature, she loved Italy and all things Italian.  Wanda was known to show her affection by cooking for people.  Mrs. Melvin was also especially fond of the time she spent with family and her grandchildren.

Surviving are 3 daughters Marsha Oliver and husband Bill Hall of Arkansas, Becky Toon-Huyear and husband Lynn Huyear of Carlinville, IL Mary Kay and husband Keith Allen of Maryland, 5 grandchildren Joshua Oliver of Florida, Nicholas Oliver of Arkansas, Kelsey (Wilhour) Berman and husband Daniel of Maryland, Jennifer (Toon) Porter and husband Justin of Dawson, IL, Derrick Toon of Taylorville, IL 4 great-grandchildren Asher Oliver of Florida, Hudson Porter and Isla Porter of Dawson, IL, Jackson David of Arkansas along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death her parents, a son Kenneth Vernon Melvin, Jr., her husband Kenneth, Sr. and 8 brothers Mario, Fred, Joseph, Robert, Dr. William, Reno, Dr. John and Dr. James Torricelli.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.
