Mr. Robert P. Burke, 81, of Joliet, IL passed away at 6:58 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Provena St. Joseph's Medical Center, Joliet, IL.

Robert was born December 1, 1930 in Kincaid, IL the son of Michael J. and Alice (Manuel) Burke. He married Roberta L. Brown on October 15, 1949 in Springfield, IL and she preceded him in death July 19, 1997.

Mr. Burke was the Chairman of English and Foreign Languages Department qt Joliet Junior College for 27 years. He taught for over 38 years. Robert served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Elks Lodge 296, VFW Post 367 both in Joliet, IL and American Legion Post #905 in Kincaid, IL.

Surviving is a son John Burke of St. Louis, MO a daughter Kelly and her husband Dr. Gregory Calkins of Oxford, Ohio 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers; (twin) James, John, Bernard, Patrick, Bill, Charles, and 3 sisters; Patricia Grace, Margaret Freeman, Betty Burgognoni.

Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg, IL. Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid is handling arrangements.
