Mr. Robert "Bob" Basil, 75, of Kincaid died at 8:40 PM Sunday, February 27, 2011 at home.

He was born in Clarksdale, Illinois the son of Chester W. and Zelma Y, (Peacher) Basil, Sr.

Bob married Shirley A. Stephens June 7, 1959 in Taylorville, IL. Shirley died July 7, 2005.

Bob worked at Peabody Coal Mine #10 for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are a daughter Becky and husband Bill McPeek of Taylorville, IL., 2 sons Brett Basil and Brian Basil both of Kincaid, IL., 1 sister Shirley and husband Don Dunkirk of Taylorville, IL., 4 brothers Darrel and wife Nancy Basil of Tinley Park, IL., Bill and wife Charlene Basil of Kincaid, IL., Ronnie and wife Mary Ann Basil of Shattuc, IL., Charles and wife Joan Basil of Langleyville, IL., 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, son Terry in 1996, and 2 sisters in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 10 AM Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid. Visitation was held there from 6 to 8 the evening before. Bob was burried with Military Rites in Anderson Cemetery N. of Palmer, Illinois.
