Richard "Dickie" Boyd Peat

Richard B. “Dickie” Peat, 79, of Tovey passed from this life Monday July 12, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Friday, December 26th 1941, in Taylorville, IL the son of Fred and Claudia (Howard) Peat in Taylorville, IL.  He married Cheryl Taylor in Tovey on December 31, 1986.

Mr. Peat retired from Peabody Mine #10 after working 40 years.  He enjoyed having a good time, often playing horseshoes, cards, slots, scratch offs, pick 3 and 4, he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a general "People Person".  Most important to him was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Surviving is his wife Cheryl Peat of Tovey, IL a son Richard B. Peat, Jr., of Kincaid, IL a daughter Carol (husband Dan) Landers of Decatur, IL 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, 2 brothers Donald (Maureen) Waterhouse and Thomas Peat both of Iowa.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Fred Peat and Claudia Waterhouse, his stepfather Jerry Waterhouse, 2 sons Fritz Peat and Mark Lash, 2 sisters Laura Ann and Janet Lynn, and a brother Robert Peat.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Bethany Cemetery, Rural Edinburg, IL.  Rev. Chad Foster will officiate.  Masterson Funeral Home is assisting his family with arrangements.
