Richard Lee Vecchie, 80, of Kincaid passed away at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015 peacefully at home.
He was born in Kincaid, IL January 25, 1935 the son of Renato L. "Shorty" and Lena (Lenzini) Vecchie.
Richard was a graduate of Kincaid High School class of 1953. He attended St. Rita's Catholic Church and was a member of Midland United Methodist Church both in Kincaid. Mr. Vecchie served in the Philippines during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. Richard worked 27 years at Strike and Spare lanes in Nashville, TN. He was a member of the Kincaid American Legion, and a railroad buff who loved to travel. Richard had also worked at the S & L True Value hardware store in Kincaid, Kincaid Food Mart and Lowes in Springfield. He was a local character who will be sadly missed for his friendly maner he showed to everyone he encountered.
Survivors include his sister Janice (Al) Vosylius of Westmont, IL a nephew Michael Vecchie and a niece Melinda Crowcroft.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Raymond.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Memorial visitation for Mr. Vecchie will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, prior to services at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL. You may visit his on-line obituary at www.mastersonfh.com
