Rae C. Davis, Sr.

Mr. Rae C. Davis, Sr of Bulpitt, IL passed from this life at 6:11A.M. Monday, April 29, 2024.

He was born in Battle Creek Michigan on Sept 28, 1931, the son of  Arvel  Davis and Mona Mae Sanders.

Rae graduated from Kincaid High in 1949. He proudly enlisted with the US Marines from 1950-1953. He served onboard the USS Wisconsin and at Camp LeJeune.

He married the love of his life, Verna Riley on November 30, 1957. She preceded him in death June 10, 2023.

He was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather. He enjoyed duck hunting for many years and would take all who wanted to go. Teaching many young duck hunters everything he knew about hunting, gun safety and respect for the sport.  He worked as a tire builder and fork lift operator for 28 years at Firestone.

He is survived by his sons Rae Davis Jr (Ann), Darrell Davis (Denise), daughters Cindy Mills (Mike), Tracie Riggs (Matt). Grandchildren Tanya Glover (Michael), Kendy Mayes (Jason), Amanda Thomas Davis, Jennifer Love (Nick)  Eric Davis (Kasey), Jessica Brown (Greg), Coady Davis (Renae), Matthew Riggs (Lynette)  Great grandchildren Dane Glover, Keely Westenhaver, Topanga Mayes, Ryder Mayes, Henry Davis, Harrison Davis, Benton Davis, Dean Davis, Maryn Love and Liam Love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Verna, son Kenneth Allen Davis, sisters Dorothy Miller, Dimple Terumoto, brother William Davis and granddaughter Alyse Davis.

He will greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, IL. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville with full military honors by a combined contingent of the Taylorville V.F.W., American Legion and the United States Marine Corps.  Visitation will be 1030 to 1130 at Masterson's.
