Pia (Ferrari) Riva

Mrs. Pia Riva, 92, of Tovey, IL passed peacefully from this life at 8:52:p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

She was born October 3, 1926 in Wilsonville, IL the daughter of Jiulio and Josephine (Guisti) Ferrari.  Pia married Barney Dominic Riva November 29, 1947 in Kincaid, IL and he preceded her in death December 16, 2001.

Mrs. Riva was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, Kincaid, IL.  Pia was a devoted housewife.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are 2 daughters Stephanie (husband John) Mayer; Barbara (husband Jerry) Burchi; 3 grandchildren Vincente (wife Stacy) Burchi; Jonna (husband Michael) Sapetti; and Johnnie (wife Sydney) Mayer all of Tovey, IL., 5 great-grandchildren Bella and Gemma Sapetti, Dominic and Mila Burchi and Ronan Mayer along with a sister-in-law Katherine Ferrari; 2 nieces and 1 nephew and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Marino Ferrari.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 in St. Rita Catholic Church, Kincaid, IL.  Fr. Gerald Riva will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  Visitation for Mrs. Pia Riva will be held for one hour before the service (9 to 10 a.m.) at the church.  Masterson Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
