Duane Lew Hunt, age 76, of Hobart, formerly of Dolton and Tovey, IL, passed away March 23, 2016.

He was a 48-year member of Local 399, Operating Engineers, retired from

Loyola University after 32 years of loyal service and worked 16 years at St. Margaret Hospital in Dyer, IN. Duane was a charter member of Operating Engineers at Loyola University, was an avid NASCAR fan, who loved both his Corvette and Mustang. He was a loyal, thoughtful man with a quiet demeanor, who loved his family and country. Duane was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who inspired and encouraged others to do their best.

He was preceded in death by his parents-Glen Raymond Hunt and Miriam Lavina Hunt; brother-Davey Hunt. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years-Janice Irene (nee Mulvaney) Hunt; son-Craig (Kristie) Hunt; granddaughters-Samantha and Josephine Hunt; brother-William (Kelly) Hunt; sister-Sharon (Larry) Mense; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Duane will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th Street, Hobart. Friends may visit with his family from 2-8:00 p.m. A visitation for Duane will also be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 11-12:00 p.m. at Masterson Funeral Home, 146 Central Avenue, Kincaid, IL, concluding with funeral services at 12:00 p.m. Interment at Bethany Cemetery, Edinburg, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Hospital and Shriner's Hospital.
