Mr. David L. "Dave" Vandeventer, 77, of Tovey, IL died 3:30 A.M. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 3, 1938 in Versailles, IL the son of Julian and Leona Myrle (Lyle) Vandeventer. Dave graduated from Mt Sterling High School in 1956. He married Sharon Manning in 1958 and they later divorced. David then married Brendina (Cavatorta) Pleshe in September 8, 1979 in Springfield, IL.

Dave worked as a Telegrapher for Norfolk and Western Railroad (formerly Wabash Railroad) for 15 years and then worked at Commonwealth-Edison, Kincaid for 25 years. He served as Mayor of Tovey from 1992 to 1998. Dave loved camping, nature, hunting, he was very mechanically inclined, an avid Cardinal fan, loved traveling with his wife Brendina and like to take day trips with his family.

Surviving are his wife Brendina of Tovey, IL, children Lyle (Eleanor) Vandeventer of Chatham, IL, Jana (Brian) Clark of Terrell, TX, Andrew Vandeventer of TX, step-daughter Dana Pleshe of Tovey, IL, 1 brother James Vandeventer of Cedar Rapids, IA, 4 grandchildren Paul Vandeventer, Laura Vandeventer, Sarah Vandeventer Lauren Vandeventer 1 step-granddaughter Breendina "Bree" Pleshe, 2 nieces Amy (Ed) Gasser and Lori Vandeventer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid. Rev. Chad Foster will officiate. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery, rural Edinburg, IL. Visitation for Mr. Vandeventer will be held for one hour before his services at Masterson Funeral Home.
