Mrs. Mary Ann (Sedlock) Sokol, age 78, of Springfield, formerly of Taylorville and Kincaid, died at 6:00p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at her residence.

Mary Ann Mrozek was the second daughter of John J. Mrozek and Sophia E. Lemons Mrozek, born July 15th, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri. Soon after, the family moved to Kincaid, IL., because of the coal mines. In Kincaid, Mary Ann grew up and attended Kincaid Schools and was a High School Cheerleader. On July 3rd 1949 she married Kenneth Sedlock of Taylorville. From 1950 until 1960 she had five sons; Gary, John, Frank, K. Lee, and Thomas.

In 1961 Mary Ann worked for the State of Illinois and also graduated from Brown's Business College. She was then nominated by the Democratic Party to run for Circuit Clerk of Christian County. In 1964 Mary Ann won the election. She then ran in two more consecutive successful elections to serve Christian County as Circuit Clerk. She also served on National committees, received national awards, received recognition from governors and senators, and was offered to serve as an Illinois Supreme Court Clerk.

In 1974 Mary Ann married Frank A. Sokol and moved to West Chicago where she was a secretary for Circuit Judges in DuPage County at Wheaton, IL. She then semi retired to Palm Coast, FL. While there she worked for Palm Coast Data and the Palm Coast Schools. Family then drew Mary Ann and Frank back to Illinois to reside in Taylorville and later Springfield.

Her husband Kenneth Sedlock, husband Frank Sokol, her parents and one sister Janita Wicks preceded her in death. Surviving are her sons Gary (wife Carol) Sedlock of Kincaid, IL., John (wife Kathy) Sedlock of Kincaid, IL., Frank Sedlock of Lincoln, IL., Lee (companion Patrick) of Toronto, IA., Thomas Sedlock of Springfield, IL., a sister Shirley McCall of Thayer, IL., 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 16th in St. Rita's Catholic Church, Kincaid, IL. Fr. Dan Willenborg officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.

Visitation was held from 5 to 7 PM Sunday, May 15th at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid.
