Marlene (Jett) Gibson

Mrs. Marlene Gibson, 79, of Kincaid passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at home with family by her side.

She was born on April 5, 1945, at Springfield Memorial Hospital the daughter of Guy and Helen (Jenkins) Jett.  She married Dannie Gibson on June 14, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville.  They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage together.  On June 3, 1964, Marlene and Dannie were blessed with twin boys Clyde Ray and Virgil LeRoy Gibson.

Marlene loved her family, flower gardening, fishing, hunting and traveling.  She was formerly employed at John Green, P. W. Hirsh, Christian County Medical Clinic and Springfield Clinic.  Mrs. Gibson is a former member of First Baptist Church in Taylorville, IL and was currently affiliated with Midland United Methodist Church in Kincaid.

Surviving are her husband Dannie Gibson of Kincaid, IL a son Clyde (wife Carole) Gibson of Kincaid, IL grandchildren Cassandra (husband Jeremy) Peat, Samantha (husband Josh) Karch, Jordan (wife Katherine) Gibson, great-grandchildren Jonathan and Maci Burns, Amelia and Greyson Peat, Owen Karch, a sister-in-law Synda Masset, 3 nieces, 3 nephews along with 1 great niece and 3 great nephews. 

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, a son Virgil “LeRoy” Gibson, brothers LeRoy and Clyde Jett, and a sister-in-law Joyce Jett.

Visitation for Mrs. Marlene Gibson will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00  P.M. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday August 14 at Masterson’s.  Rev. Chad Foster will officiate.  Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville.  Memorials in loving memory of Mrs. Gibson are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – 501 St. Jude Place – Memphis, TN 38105.  Condolences may also be left at mastersonfh.com
