Marilyn Ariana Obituary

Marilyn Marie (Corpin) Ariana, age 96, of Kincaid, IL received her angel wings on March 3, 2022, when she passed away at HSHS St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, IL.

She was born on August 6, 1925, at home in Jeisyville, IL the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Kohler) Corpin, Sr.  She married James Joseph Ariana, Jr. on June 8, 1947, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, IL.  He preceded her in death April 4, 2017.

Marilyn graduated from South Fork Community High School and before marrying Jim, she worked for the Baietto family at their neighborhood grocery store People’s Market.  After they married and their daughter Linda arrived, she became a full-time mother and homemaker.

Marilyn loved to garden, sharing her bounty with neighbors and friends, and was most proud of her prize-winning garlic.  She was a diehard Cubs fan who often visited her grandson in Chicago and attended games at Wrigley Field.  Her and Jim were thrilled they were able to see the Cubs Win the World Series in 2016.

She was a lifelong member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, the Edwin Corpin American Legion Post #905 Women’s Auxiliary (named after her brother who was killed in World War II). She and Jim were the longest serving members of the Post both receiving membership awards for exceeding 70 years of service.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Constant of Springfield, IL., her grandson Aaron Miller (Rob Sabetto) of Chicago, IL., her nieces Dolores Hay, Patti (Jim) Peterson of Sorento, IL., Mary Lou Austin of Hillsboro, IL., and her nephews John (Cathy) Corpin of Nokomis, IL., Sam Corpin of Seward, Alaska and Robert Corpin of Anchorage, Alaska sister-in-law Norma Bourlard nephew David (Denise) Bourlard both of Kincaid, IL, and special friends Roscoe and Lauri Kirchhoff, Brad and Angie Mansfield, Louie Selzer, Joe Halbert, Linda Blessman, Karen Smothers, Kathy Bowman, and Lucia Pellinghelli along with several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, parents, brothers (Andrew and Edwin) a sister and brother Evelyn and Edward who both died in infancy and a nephew Andy Corpin.

Visitation will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, IL from 9 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 12, 2022, with Funeral Mass immediately following at 11:00 A.M.  Monsignor David Lantz will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  A meal will take place after the services at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid.

Memorial contributions in honor of Marilyn are suggested to Edwin G. Corpin American Legion Post #905 or St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, IL. for her lifelong ties to the community, or the Alzheimer’s Association to aid in finding a cure for the horrible disease that changed the life of this vibrant, spunky woman.
