Mrs. Karen J. Krehel, age 70, of Kincaid, died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 in Hillsboro Area Hospital at Hillsboro, IL.

Karen was born October 13, 1940, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Harry A. and Frances Ledferd Yost. She graduated from Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. Following graduation she obtained an associate degree in nursing as a R.N. from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. She married George L. Krehel in Springfield on June 6, 1958. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1986. She worked as an R.N. at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville and then at McFarland Mental Health Center in Springfield. She was a member of the Midland United Methodist Church at Kincaid. Karen was formerly a Girl Scout Leader in Kincaid.

Surviving are her daughter, Beth Ann Kujawa of Rotonda West, Fl; grandchildren, Kathryn Kujawa and Tim Kujawa, both of Florida; and great-granddaughter, Sedona Kujawa of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; and son, Tim Krehel.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday September 15, 2011 in Masterson Funeral Home at Kincaid. Pastor Linda Vonck officiated. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery north of Tovey. Visitation was held one hour prior to services.
