Mr. John M. "Mickey" Kirkendoll Sr., age 71, of Kincaid, IL died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, IL.

Mickey was born May 24, 1940, in Bulpitt, IL to Clarence W. and Virginia M. Baldon Kirkendoll. He graduated from South Fork High School in 1958. He married Caroline Cummings and they later divorced. He then married Ginger Winfrey and they later divorced. He worked in the coal mines of central Illinois for 36 ½ years, retiring from Peabody Coal Mine #10 at Pawnee, IL in 1995.He was a member of United Mine Workers Of America Local #9819.

Mickey is survived by sons, John Kirkendoll Jr. of Waltonville, IL and Scott (wife Jean) Kirkendoll of Christopher, IL; daughter, Marcia (husband Randy) Venegoni of Christopher, IL; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman (wife Edna) Kirkendoll of Kincaid, IL and Kenneth Kirkendoll of Virginia, IL; sister, Kathryn Smith of Coffeen, IL; and best friend Ginger Kirkendoll of Taylorville. His parents and a sister, Thelma Dale, preceded him in death.

Graveside rites and burial took place at Village Cemetery in Norris City, IL on Monday March 19, 2012. Rev. Rudy Barnett officiated. Visitation was held on Sunday March 18, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, IL. Memorials may be made to the cancer fund.
