John Louis Brown, Sr.

Mr. John Louis Brown, Sr., 57, of Tovey, IL passed from this life Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

He was born in Streator, IL March 15, 1964 the son of Herman A. and Marilyn H. (Baratta) Brown, Sr.  John graduated from Kincaid High School, Class of 1982.

He married Rhonda Smith in Tovey, IL on February 25, 1984.

John was a member of the Teamsters Local 916 of Springfield, IL.  He worked for the last 14 years at Capitol Redi-Mix in Springfield, IL.  He was known for being a great host at his get togethers at his home and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  John was a hard worker.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years Rhonda Brown of Tovey, IL a son John (wife Jordan) Brown, Jr. of Sullivan, IL., 2 grandchildren Jhett and Josslyn Brown, siblings David (Debra) Brown of Kershaw, SC., Karen (Dale) Miller of Nokomis, IL., Linda (LeRoy) Ackerman of Taylorville, IL., Herman (Stephanie) Brown of Langleyville, IL and Patricia Rozplochowski of Taylorville, IL., along with nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters: Carol Barber, Rosemary Kounse, Barbara Barringer and Mary Ward.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL.  Rev. Chad Foster will officiate.  Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery, near Lake Sangchris in rural Edinburg, IL.  Visitation for Mr. John L. Brown, Sr., will be held Monday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. (2 hours before the services) at Masterson’s, Kincaid.  The family is requesting Covid Precautions be taken and for those who are physically able, please wear a mask.  Memorial contributions are suggested to his family and will be designated at a later date.
