Mr. Herman A. Brown, Sr., 82, of Kincaid, IL passed away at 6:10 pm Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Taylorville, IL October 11, 1930 the son of Abraham Louis and Maryann (Alvey) Brown. Herman married Marilyn H. Baratta on January 12, 1949 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death July 8, 1986.

Mr. Brown retired from Peabody Mine #10 in 1978. He was a member of United Mine Workers Of America Local #9819.

Herman is survived by 8 children Barbara (James) Barringer of Hamlet, NC., David (Debra) Brown of Kershaw, SC., Karen (Dale) Miller of Naples, IL., Mary (Arthur) Ward of Marston, NC., John (Rhonda) Brown of Tovey, IL., Linda (LeRoy) Ackerman of Taylorville, IL., Herman Brown, Jr., of Kincaid, IL., and Patricia Rozplochowski of Taylorville, IL., 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 brothers LeDon Brown of Mt. Zion, IL., Robert Brown of Taylorville, IL along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 daughters Carol Barber and Rosemarie Kounse, 2 brothers Paul and Alvey Brown, 2 sisters Beulah Hunt and Irene Norris, 4 grandchildren Herman Mark Kounse, Christopher Kounse, Karen Kounse, Scott Rozplochowski, 2 great-grandchildren Triston Waldo and Haley Miloncus.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid. Pastor Dayle Badman officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Pawnee, IL. Visitation was held Monday February 11, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Masterson's. Memorials may be made to the family and will be designated at a later date.
