Gale Leon Burkhart

Mr. Gale Leon Burkhart, Jr., 77, of Taylorville, IL formerly of Kincaid, IL passed from this life at 11:02 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025 at home.

He was born in Assumption, IL June 26, 1948 the son of Gale and Mary Burkhart, Sr.   Gale married Mary Sue Westenhaver in 1972 in Stonington, IL.  She preceded him in death May 7, 2018.

Gale served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972 in the U.S. Army.  He had worked as a CNA, at the ADM Bean Mill in Taylorville, IL., at Presicion Products in Springfield, and as a Coal Miner.  Gale loved the time he was able to spend with his family and tinkering with small engine repairs.

Surviving are a son Joshua Burkhart, a daughter Tiffany Burkhart both of Taylorville, IL., a brother Tom (Rena) Burkhart and 2 sisters Ann Gregory and Rose Doubles.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A family memorial service will be held at a later date.  Gale and his wife Mary Sue will be interred in Assumption Cemetery before the winter sets in.  Their burial date and time will be announced here and published in the breeze before their service.
