Elizabeth (Lyman) Ferry

Elizabeth Lyman Ferry, 97 of Taylorville, IL, passed away Jan 18, 2021.

Elizabeth was born November 29, 1923 in Niantic, IL, a daughter of Homer C. and Helen A. (Beal) Lyman. She attended the University of Illinois where she met her future husband and love of her life, George F. Ferry; they were married February 21, 1944 in Miami. Elizabeth was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, founding member of St. Vincent Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, member of D.A.R since 1939, Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation Board for 6 years, past president of Taylorville Women’s Club, Docent at Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church.

Elizabeth is survived by her 3 sons, George F. (wife, Dayle) Ferry of Palmer, AK, Dr. John L. (wife, Susan) Ferry of Taylorville, IL, and William K. (wife, Gayla) Ferry of Millstadt, IL, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Proceeding in death were her parents, her husband, Dr. George F. Ferry, brothers, Dr. Homer C. Lyman and Robert B. Lyman and an infant sister Helen E. Lyman.

Private family graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL. Rev. John Huxtable officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Dr. George Ferry Memorial Scholarship in care of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation - 201 E. Pleasant St. - Taylorville, IL - 62568.  A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date. Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid is in charge of arrangements.
