Mrs. Dorothy J. Waud, age 94, of Kincaid, died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday May 21, 2011 in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Dorothy was born February 4, 1917, in Pawnee, IL., the daughter of Joseph and Carrie Towne Parker. She graduated from Pawnee High School. She married Roscoe V. Waud, in East St. Louis, IL, on June 11, 1936. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1979. She worked at the Ammunition Plant in Illiopolis during World War II. After the war she worked at the Silk Factory in Kincaid from 1946 to 1961. She worked at Howard's Beauty Shop in Taylorville from 1961 to 1963, and at the same time, attended and graduated from Marguerite Scott's Beauty School in Springfield. She owned and operated Dorothy's Beauty Shop in Kincaid from 1963 until 1994, when she retired. She was a member of the Midland United Methodist Church in Kincaid and former member of Springfield Beauty Association.

Surviving are her son; William and wife Joyce Waud of Sharpsburg; daughter, Judith and husband Dr. Jerry Gardner of Taylorville; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her parents; her husband; brother, Joseph Parker and sister, Mae Ess, preceded her in death.

Cremation rights were accorded. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg, IL. Pastor Linda Vonck officiated. There was no visitation. Memorials may still be made to Midland United Methodist Church, Kincaid, IL in memory of Mrs. Waud.
