Donald Ray Larcher

Mr. Donald R. Larcher, 84, of Jeisyville, IL passed from this life at 10:10 P.M. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at home with family by his side.

He was born in Taylorville, IL September 6, 1940, the son of John Baptiste and Wilma (Hefley) Larcher.  Mr. Larcher married Barbara K. Summers on November 9, 1963, and she preceded him in death on November 15, 2015.

Donald was a faithful member of Midland United Methodist Church where he often volunteered.  He helped with the establishment of the Food Pantry there.  Mr. Larcher honorably served in the U.S. Navy.  He was a forever die hard Cubs fan.  He worked for many years at Peabody Mine #10 where he was a proud Union member.  He was a part of the U.M.W.A. from which he also worked for a time for Zini Drilling near Carlinville.  In between mining and drilling, he earned his C.N.A.  Mr. Larcher liked watching the birds in his yard and tending to his wife's flowers.  He was also a ballroom dancer and coached little league baseball in Kincaid.  Donald especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his daughter Tamara Larcher of Jeisyville, IL his son John Larcher of Chicago, IL 3 grandchildren Anne Elizabeth Larcher, Joseph Michael Larcher, Emily Katherine Larcher all of Chicago, a sister Joann Janesh of Nokomis, IL brothers-in-law Chuck (Lenora) Heiple and Thomas (Helen) Summers both of Taylorville, IL along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents John Larcher and Wilma Henley, his beloved wife Barbara, grandson Robert Keppler, and sister Pat Heiple.

Visitation for Mr. Donald R. Larcher will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 24th at Midland United Methodist Church with Pastor Lindsey Young officiating.  A fellowship meal will immediately follow the services at the church.  Interment will take place at a later date in Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, IL.
