Domenica "Mimie" V. (Frisina) Dunkirk

Mrs. Domenica V. “Mimie” Dunkirk, 73, of Taylorville, IL passed from this life at 5:12 P.M. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born in Montevago, Sicily Italy on September 6, 1952, the daughter of Pietro and Gaetana (Lamberta) Frisina.  Miss Frisina married Gary Dunkirk on June 11, 1971, in Springfield, IL.

Domenica was a member of the Catholic faith.  She retired as a supervisor from the Illinois Department of Revenue where she had started working in 1971.  She had previously worked at the Singer Sewing Shop on the East side of the square and had spent her last 10 years working at First National Bank on Spresser Street.  She was known to go everywhere with her husband Gary.  They enjoyed going to car shows together, and she especially cherished the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. 

Mrs. Dunkirk is survived by her beloved husband Gary of Taylorville, IL 2 daughters Kim (Don) Pembroke of Taylorville, IL and Carrie (Nick) Daugherty of Stonington, IL 7 grandchildren Gavin (fiancée Pei Chi) Pembroke, Delanie (Ryan) Peters, Karrick Pembroke, Kason Pembroke, Dalton Emerson, Cole Emerson, Elizabeth Daugherty 3 great grandchildren Colbie Peters, Collins Peters and Kendall Peters siblings Biagio Frisina, Frank (Rita) Frisina all of Taylorville, IL and Joseph (Barb) Frisina of Springfield, IL along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Brian Earl Dunkirk in 2005, great-granddaughter Kinsley Peters, a brother Antonio “Tony” Frisina and a sister Marguerite Ognibene.

Visitation for Mrs. Domenica “Mimie” Dunkirk will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, IL.  That visitation will close with a Vigil Service officiated by Fr. Rodney Schwartz.  Visitation will also be held from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Masterson’s with prayers to close and procession to Morrisonville Cemetery for a committal service.  Those unable to attend may leave condolences at mastersonfh.com which will be printed and given to her family.
