David Gene Phillips

Mr. David Gene Phillips, 84, of Springfield, IL passed from this life Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 12:52 P.M. in Regency Care, Springfield, IL.

He was born May 30, 1940 the son of Frank Bernard and Juanita Jeanette (Hawkins) Phillips.

David married Mary Ann Emerson June 11, 1961 and she preceded him in death on May 16, 2013.

Mr. Phillips worked for several years at Clark Oil Company.  He retired from Springfield School District as a Custodian and later worked as a greeter for Walmart.

Surviving are 2 sisters Carol Kerwin and Rose Phillips Black, nieces and nephews Sharon McQuire, Stephen Kerwin, Sherri Kay, Richard Huddleston, Kathryn Ream, Jeanette Booker, Michael Gullidge, a sister-in-law Barbara Phillips, a special nephew Robert Emerson who provided care as David transitioned towards the end of his life and an aunt Martha Phillips of the state of Washington. 

David was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judith Halcom, brothers Daniel Dean and James Phillips, and nieces Sally Hathaway, Sarah Kerwin and Rebecca Turner.

Visitation for Mr. David Gene Phillips will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 5th, 2024 at the Kincaid Church of God, 120 Market Street in Kincaid.  Funeral services will start there at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jim Austin officiating.  Burial will then take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.  Masterson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.   Memorial contributions are suggested to Kincaid Church of God – P.O.
