Alfred DeRocchi

September 4, 1912 ~ June 22, 2013 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Alfred DeRocchi, 100, of Jeisyville, IL died Saturday, June 22, 2013 in the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL.

He was born in Ladd, IL September 4, 1912 the son of Antone and Gemma "Jennie" (Vivarelli) DeRocchi. Alfred married Ruth V. Dooley in 1953 and they later divorced.

Mr. DeRocchi served in the US Army in the South Pacific during W.W. II. Alfred was a member of the V.F.W. in Taylorville, IL. He worked at Peabody Mine #7 from 1948 to 1952 then Borg-Warner in Decatur for 20 years as a Finish Grinder on automotive air-conditioning crank shafts. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Surviving are a son Antone DeRocchi of Jeisyville, IL 2 daughters Melanie Ruth Jeisey of Lincoln, IL and Martha Ann Schneider of Florida, a sister in law Delores DeRocchi of Taylorville, IL along with 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Katherine Olson, Anna Hartwig, Mary Jaehnke, and 2 brothers Bruno DeRocchi and Albert DeRocchi.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Monday, July 1, 2013 at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL. Burial with military rites by the Taylorville V.F.W. followed in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL. Visitation was held from 2 to 5 pm Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Masterson Funeral Home.
