George R. Sammons

Mr. George R. Sammons, 89, of Springfield, IL formerly of Kincaid, IL passed from this life 11:00 P.M. Friday, January 11, 2019 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village, Springfield, IL.

He was born February 22, 1929 in Pana, IL the son of Charles and Lilley Harriette (Fornwalt) Sammons.   George married Lorane Ramsey September 15, 1946 in Kincaid, IL and she preceded him in death July 26, 2009. 

George was a United States Marine Corps World War II Veteran.  He first worked as a Coalminer, then for Pillsbury Mills, Springfield and finished his career as a timing engineer at Caterpillar Tractor.  George was also a member of the Blue Light Masonic Lodge in Edinburg, IL.

Surviving is his daughter Susan L. Sammons of Springfield, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Masterson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kincaid, IL.  Rev. Chad Foster will officiate.  Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville, IL.  Visitation for Mr. Sammons will be held for one hour before his service at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL.
