Dorothy J. (Hancock) Brookens, 86 of Kincaid, IL passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017.  Dorothy was born July 13, 1930 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Albert and Velma (Miller) Hancock.  She married Keith Brookens on November 26, 1948 in Owensboro, Kentucky.  Keith preceded her in death on April 4, 2017. 

Dorothy was a graduate of Taylorville HIgh School.  She was a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 76 for many years and enjoyed crafts including crocheting, quilting, embroidering, stained glass work, beading jewelry, but mainly enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family.  Dorothy retired as a cook from Kincaid Elementary School in 1987 and spent many great retirement winters with Keith in Gulf Shores, Alabama and Alamo, Texas.  

She is survivied by her children: Donald (companion Linda Bollenback-Davis) of Anna, IL, Beverly Perrachione of Kirksville, MO and Steve (Wendy) of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Buffy Brookens; Tyler (Arim) Perrachione, Kaitlin Brookens, Courtney (Kevin) Rudick, Sara (Ben) Abney, Jeffrey (Rachel) Brookens, and Hayden Baker; one great granddaughter Zoella Jean Abney; one brother James (Rita) Hancock and two sisters Mary Ferguson and Sue (Dennis) Snyder all of Taylorville, IL and several nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her husband Keith, her parents, and one sister Roberta Yeaman and one brother Gerald Hancock.

The family will receive friends for a time to celebrate Dorothy's life on Thursday April 27,2017 at 10:00 am at  Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, IL with the funeral service  immediately following at 11:00 am.  Burial will be at Glen Haven Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Prairie Rose Dementia Unit, Pana IL.
