O. LeRoy "Chub" Heberling

O. LeRoy “Chub” Heberling, 92, of Taylorville, IL passed from this life at 11:05 am on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Taylorville Estates.

He was born in Johnson Township, June 3, 1931 the son of Henry “Curtis” and Alberta E. (Elliott) Heberling.  LeRoy married Betty A. Colonius June 2, 1950 in Austin, TX.  Betty preceded him in death May 31, 1986.

Mr. Heberling was a member of the Air National Guard for 3 years and was activated into the U.S. Airforce during the Korean Conflict.  He farmed for many years around Taylorville.  LeRoy also worked at the Paper Mill for 10 years.  He was a former member of the Farm Bureau.

Surviving are 2 sons: Lawrence Heberling, David and his wife Julie Heberling all of Taylorville, IL 6 grandchildren Nancy (Matt) Colbrook of Taylorville, IL., Shannon (Eric) Martin of Rochester, IL., Justin (Heather) Heberling of Taylorville, IL., Marissa Heberling and Chris Calloway of Ohio, Michelle (Shawn) Rexroad of Taylorville, IL., Travis (Emily) Heberling of Chicago, many great grandchildren, a sister Anna Lou Yoho of Springfield, IL. along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty in 1986, 2 brothers Jordan and Edward Heberling and 2 sisters Nellie Eastley and Grace Greffe.

Visitation will be held from 9am to 10 am Wednesday, March 13th at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid.  Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:00 am.  Burial will take place in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville, where full military rites will be rendered by a combined contingent of the Taylorville V.F.W. – American Legion and the United States Air Force.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Those not able to attend may leave condolences at mastersonfh.com.
