Louis Magos Obituary

Mr. Louis “Lou” John Magos, 80, of Kincaid passed from this life at 8:54 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at Taylorville Care Center.  He was born in New York, NY September 7, 1943, the son of Steve and Elizabeth Veronica (Chamos) Magos.  Mr. Magos graduated from Kincaid High School with the class of 1961.  Lou married Kay Carol Stone on March 14, 1964, in Kincaid, IL.

Mr. Magos was a very active, proud member of the Kincaid Church of God where he had served as: Youth Minister, Sunday School Teacher, Song Leader, Choir Director, Treasurer and on the Men’s Council.  He was a member of the Midland Ministerial Alliance. He loved the Lord and brought many to Jesus during his lifetime.

He was formerly an active athlete and played fast pitch softball, was a bowler (he bowled two 300 games), golfer and basketball player.  Louis was an avid Illini fan and loved spending time watching any type of sport on TV.  

Lou loved his family and enjoyed taking trips to see them.  He never knew a stranger and loved to talk.  Mr. Magos retired from the Commonwealth Edison power plant near Kincaid in 1995 after 28 years.

Surviving are: his loving wife of 60 years Kay Magos of Kincaid, IL., his children Lori (husband Robert) Blevins of Winston, GA., Timothy Joseph Magos of Cleveland, TN., Kristi (husband Joel) Vicente of Welsey Chapel, FL., his grandchildren Josiah (Amy) Vicente of Lakeland, FL., Elizabeth (Christopher) Johan of Atlanta, GA., Justin Vicente of Lakeland, FL., William (Mary) Blevins of Douglasville, GA., Jack Blevins of  Winston, GA., Joseph Vicente of Wesley Chapel, FL., a great-grandson Jayce Vicente, a sister Marie Puckett of Taylorville, IL., along with a nieces Sheri and Ashley Magos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Veronica Magos and brothers, Steve Magos, Charlie Magos and Joe Magos

Visitation for Mr. Louis John Magos will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Kincaid Church of God, 120 Market Street, Kincaid, IL.  Funeral services follow at 12 Noon.  Pastors Vance Massengill and Jacob Skelton will officiate.  Words will also be shared by Joel Vicente.  Burial will then take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.  Masterson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
