Mr. Michael J. Masterson, JR., 31, of the St. Louis area, formerly of this area, passed away at home at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016.

Michael was born in Taylorville, IL June 26, 1985 the son of Dawn Renee Sexton and Michael J. Masterson, Sr.

Michael was baptized into the Catholic Faith, and had attended Warrensburg-Latham, Pawnee and Taylorville Schools.  He formerly worked at Angelo’s Pizza.  Michael was a very free spirited person and loved having a good time with friends and spending time with family.  He enjoyed fishing, and especially the time spent with his brother Jake.  He was looking forward to a brighter future with his fiancée Abby and her children which he called his own.

He will be sadly missed by those he left behind to include his fiancée Abby Green and her family of St. Louis, MO., his parents Michael J. (wife Amy) Masterson, Sr., of Tovey, IL Dawn Renee (Sexton) Masterson of Taylorville, IL his bother Jacob M. Masterson of Colorado Springs, CO., paternal grandparents Richard and Judy Masterson of Kincaid, IL maternal grandparents Terry and Janice Sexton of Taylorville his paternal great-grandmother Marie Ricci of Taylorville, IL 1 step brother Gary Fairbrother III of Tovey, IL, 2 step sisters Lorin Fairbrother of Pawnee, IL and little Alison Riva of Tovey, IL along with 2 aunts Susan (Greg) Duncan and their children of Ohio, Barbara (Maurice) Burkey of Taylorville and her children, several great aunts, great uncles, cousins and a huge host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Masterson Funeral Home, in Kincaid, IL.  Deacon Ray Roth will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  Visitation for Mike, JR. will be held from 5 to 7 Wednesday at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid.
