Mr. George D. Surratt, 65, of Tovey, IL formerly of the Chapin Area, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

He was born in Jacksonville, IL February 24, 1951 the son of Virgil and Hellen (Sims) Surratt.

George worked many years as an over the road truck driver for several different companies.

Surviving are a son Jason (Carrie) Surratt of Seattle, WA., 3 granddaughters, 3 sisters Hilda (Edward) Six of South Jacksonville, IL Hettie (Stacey) McDannald and Hattie (Everett) Burbridge all of Concord, IL along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Chapin Cemetery, Chapin, IL.  A visitation for Mr. Surratt will be held from 11 am to 12 noon Saturday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
