Mr. Chester W. “Bill” Basil, Jr., 80, of Kincaid, IL passed away at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Basil was born in Clarksdale, IL September 6, 1936 the son of Chester W. and Zelma (Peacher) Basil, Sr.  Bill married Mary “Charlene” Tippitt on December 24, 1953 in Union City, TN.  Mr. and Mrs. Basil celebrated 63 years together.

Bill, as he was affectionately known by all, attended First Church of Nazarene in Taylorville, IL.  He was a member of U.M.W.A. local #9819 and retired after working 33 years at Peabody Mine #10 near Pawnee.   Mr. Basil served as President of Kincaid Little League Association, and was an associate member of the Kincaid American Legion Post #905.  Bill loved his family, the St. Louis Cardinals and fishing.

He is survived by: his wife Charlene of Kincaid, IL a daughter Anita (Mark) Lemanski of Taylorville, IL 2 sons Dale (Debra) Basil of Jeisyville, IL Jeff (Gina) Basil of Kincaid, IL 2 brothers Darrell (Nancy) Basil of Joliet, IL Ronald (Mary Ann) Basil of Decatur, IL a sister Shirley (Donald) Dunkirk of Taylorville, IL 6 grandchildren Cody Basil and companion Madison Siegrist, Jennifer Lemanski and companion Randy Prince, Jr., Amanda (Chris) Dempsey, Kayla Basil, Kim (Nick) Todd, and Kendra Carter along with 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Basil was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers Robert and Charles Basil.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Masterson Funeral Home in  Kincaid, IL.  Pastor Bob Turner of Taylorville 1st Church of the Nazarene will officiate.  Burial will follow in Thomas Anderson Cemetery rural Palmer, IL.  Visitation for Mr. Chester Wm. “Bill” Basil will be held from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Masterson Funeral Home.
