Mr. Carl C. Tippitt, 91, of Kincaid, IL passed away at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.

Mr. Tippitt was born in Palmer, IL March 16, 1926 the son of Glenn C. and Freda Marie (Fesser) Tippitt.  Carl married Rose Staffaroni August 23, 1945 in Taylorville, IL.  Carl and Rose renewed their vows in June 1973 at St. Rita Catholic Church, Kincaid, IL.

Mr. Tippitt was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid.  He was a Third Degree member of the Kincaid Knight’s of Columbus Council #4446 and a member of U.M.W.A. local #9819.  Carl worked for 42 years in the coal mines retiring in October 1987 from Peabody Mine #10 near Pawnee.  He enjoyed hunting, people watching, long drives in the car, watching his grandchildren play sports, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Rose of Kincaid, son Robert (Janet) Tippitt and daughter Beverly (Dale) Merano all of Kincaid, IL 5 grandchildren Cherie Pope of Springfield, IL Kelly (Josh) Prince of Tovey, IL., Lissa (Tommy) Watson, Stephanie (Joe) Leonard and Melanie Merano all of Kincaid, IL 9 great grandchildren Derek & Devinn Moss, Haley & Hayden Prince, Kennady & Adalyn Watson, William & Luca Leonard, and Maxx Pope and one great-great grandson Ryder Conaway.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 20, 2017 in St. Rita Catholic Church, Kincaid.  Monsignor David Lantz will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Friday, at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL.
